Program Overview

Rogers Behavioral Health is seeking a full-time psychiatrist to join our Child and Adolescent treatment team in Skokie, Illinois. Our team includes psychiatrists, internists, psychologists, nurses, therapists, dietitians, and mental health technicians who work together to provide compassionate and effective care for patients with mental disorders.

Responsibilities

  • Attend patients and assist with patient coverage at assigned locations, including multiple levels of care or providing virtual services.
  • Conduct medication management sessions, psychiatric evaluations, and create patient treatment plans.
  • Create discharge plans and participate in team and unit meetings.
  • Oversee medical residents and fellows during their educational rotations.
  • Round on patients as required and complete emergency detentions, including paperwork and interactions with regulatory agencies.
  • Provide medication education with nursing staff and participate in inservices.
  • Meet patient productivity standards and document all actions within 24 hours.
  • Attend Medical Staff meetings and other relevant committees.

Payor Relations

  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with contracted payors.
  • Review denials of service from payors and coordinate care with referring parties and primary care physicians.
  • Market the employer as appropriate and participate in off-site meetings and marketing activities.
  • Evaluate potential admissions, pending cases, and declined admissions to ensure policy execution and compliance with EMTALA.
  • Advocate for the organization and participate in quality assurance and performance improvement activities.

Admissions Support

  • Provide initial placement recommendations based on admitting criteria and clinical parameters.
  • Review and evaluate completed admission screenings to determine appropriate program, level of care, and mode of delivery.
  • Communicate with other departments and agencies as needed and report pertinent data to the attending provider.
  • Prioritize effectively and communicate difficult problems with referents.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with medical staff and other providers.

Physical/Mental Demands

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to resolve conflict.
  • Ability to use initiative and judgement to organize, plan activities, and make decisions.
  • Flexible to adjust to changing conditions and programs.
  • Verbal and hearing ability required for interaction with patients and employees.
  • Numerical ability required for record-keeping and operating a computer.
  • Physical demands include walking, sitting, standing, lifting up to 20 pounds, reaching, handling, grasping, and manual dexterity.

Qualifications

  • Licensed in the state as an MD or DO with specialization in psychiatry.
  • Board-eligible physician with board certification preferred.
  • Graduate of an accredited college or university and medical school.
  • Successful completion of a GME accredited residency and/or fellowship program, if working with children, additional residency with this age group must have been obtained.
  • Previous work or moonlighting experience working as a psychiatrist in another licensed hospital, preferred.
  • Leadership and/or supervisory experience in a behavioral health organization is preferred.
  • Experience with process improvement implementation preferred.

Pay Transparency

The base compensation for this role is between $230,000 and $300,000, with placement in the range varying based on years of experience and area of specialization (adults or children). In addition to base salary, the position offers a comprehensive incentive package.
