Responsibilities
- Provide oversight and clinical supervision for psychiatric services.
- Conduct clinical diagnostic evaluations, treatment team consultations, and medical prescription management.
- Supervise the psychiatric nurse practitioner while providing clinical guidance to the medical team.
- Direct the development and implementation of psychiatric protocols, including seclusion policies and administration of PRN medication.
- Serve as the Designated Mental Health Authority for the facility, as required by contract or state/local regulations.
- Participate in ongoing clinical in-service training and development activities.
- Maintain a high standard of role model behavior for youth.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must hold a valid state license as a Psychiatrist.
- One to two years of experience in direct-care delivery of treatment or clinical services, plus one year of supervisory experience preferred.
- Experience in residential DJJ programs, offender treatment programs, group work modalities, child welfare, and substance abuse treatment is highly desirable.
- Must be able to work effectively with diverse groups of staff and residents in a participatory management environment.
- Ability to periodically work extended hours and respond to mental health crises as needed.
- Must be able to assist staff in restraining youth using approved behavior management techniques. PAR certification preferred.
- Must be free of communicable diseases as required by the state.
- Must meet state criminal background check requirements and maintain employment eligibility status.
