Psychiatrist
Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Maintains active credentials with professional accrediting bodies.
- Requires M.D. or D.O. medical degree.
- Current Indiana medical license, CSR, and DEA.
- Completion of a psychiatry residency and be Board eligible or Board-certified in Psychiatry.
- Prescribes medication when necessary.
- Requires strong interpersonal skills to participate in service delivery with an interdisciplinary team.
- Requires quality client care and communication.
- Requires effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Requires knowledge of good educational practices; assessment of needs and implementation of programs of education.
- Requires exceptional customer service skills; especially empathetic concern of the patient.
Collaboration
- This position requires the ability to collaborate with other behavioral health providers and staff, primary care providers, OB/GYN providers and dental providers in a holistic approach to meeting all our patient’s needs.
Direct Patient Care and Consultation
- Evaluates patients for mental, emotional or psychiatric disorders.
- Focuses on correct diagnosis using history, physical exam, and diagnostic testing (psychological testing such as depression and anxiety screens and laboratory testing) as indicated.
- Provides care with appropriate pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment as indicated for each individual patient.
- Completes medical records and documents reports to support recommendations in accordance with HealthNet’s medical records policy.
- Makes appropriate referrals for both psychiatric and non-psychiatric medical care as necessary.
- Provides clinical consultation to other HealthNet primary care, OB/GYN, and dental providers when requested.
- Apply a minimum of one health literacy method when communicating with patients/clients.
Clinical Supervision
- Help provide oversight and medication and chart reviews for psychiatric nurse practitioners.
- Provide oversight of assigned therapists and sign off on therapy notes at initiation of treatment plans and at least every 90 days thereafter while the patient is receiving therapy services.
