Psychiatrist

NaphCare is hiring a Psychiatrist to join our team of medical professionals at the Bullock Correctional Facility in Union Springs, AL. This is a unique position where you can make a difference to a diverse population of patients with complex mental health needs.

About the role

As a Correctional Psychiatrist, you will oversee clinical responsibility for the mental health programs within the facility, working alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and diagnose mental health conditions to facility residents while protecting the rights, dignity, and health of our unique patient population.
• Provide medication management, therapy, and other evidence-based treatment plans to address mental health needs.
• Oversee the completion of mental health screenings and evaluations performed by others.
• Respond to acute mental health crises within the facility.
• Support the rehabilitation of patients and facilitate their successful transition back into the community.
• Coordinate, lead, and participate in educational training activities related to mental health care.
• Ensure compliance with State and Federal mandates and regulations, including court mandates and standards.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including correctional staff, psychologists, social workers, and other medical professionals to develop and implement treatment plans and ensure staff are responsive to patients’ needs.

Requirements

• Must hold a current unrestricted license as a Psychiatrist in the state of AL.
• A current DEA registration in the state.
• Be able to obtain BLS CPR Certification (AHA preferred).
• Be certified in a Board recognized by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN).
• Experience with underserved and marginalized populations, including those with mental health and substance use disorders.
• Strong communication skills and ability to communicate with diverse individuals, including other medical professionals, correctional staff, and judges.
• Ability to interpret and analyze data to create treatment plans.
• Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
• Able to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information.
• Display integrity, professionalism, and adhere to a Code of Conduct while complying with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
• Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening.
