Psychiatrist - Adult Programs (Brown Deer)

Program Overview

Rogers Behavioral Health is seeking a full-time psychiatrist to join our Adult treatment center team. We are particularly looking for an individual with geropsychiatry experience to support our newest program at our Brown Deer campus.

About the Role

This role is within our acute care setting, offering both inpatient and residential levels of care. The multi-disciplinary team includes psychiatrists, internists, psychologists, nurses, therapists, dietitians, and mental health technicians, all committed to providing compassionate, effective care for those diagnosed with mental disorders. The treatment programs are tailored to meet the unique needs of each patient to achieve the best possible outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Attend patients and assist with patient coverage at the locations assigned by Employer, which may include multiple locations, multiple levels of care, or providing virtual services within the scope of physician licensure.
• Conduct medication management sessions with patients, conduct patient psychiatric evaluations and assessments, create patient treatment plans and manage updates, provide patient and family education, participate in team and unit meetings, create discharge plans, collaborate with nurse practitioners and physician assistants, oversee medical residents and fellows working on the unit, and participate in the established call schedule.
• Complete all charting and documentation within 24 hours, serve as attending physician for assigned units, round on patients as required, complete emergency detentions of patients as needed, including all required paperwork and necessary interactions with regulatory agencies, and provide medication education with nursing staff.
• Participate in inservice treatment team, market Employer as appropriate, attend Medical Staff meetings and Medical Staff Executive Committee meetings, and advocate for the organization by providing support, information, education, and services, participating in quality assurance and performance improvement activities, and identifying new program development opportunities for patient care services and Employer.
• Provide initial placement recommendations based on admitting criteria, clinical parameters, medical history, and documentation obtained through screening process provided by prospective patient or representative. Review and evaluate completed admission screenings to determine appropriate program, level of care, and mode of delivery for prospective patient. Communicate professionally and accurately. Refer to and work with other departments and agencies as needed. Report pertinent data to the attending provider and others on the team, prioritize effectively and consistently in situations requiring immediate attention versus postponement, immediately communicate difficult problems with referents, develop and maintain relationships with medical staff and other providers across RBH for ongoing re-review or other case communication.

Requirements

Must be licensed in the state as an MD or DO with specialization in psychiatry. Board-eligible physician preferred, with board certification preferred. Graduated from an accredited college or university and medical school. Successful completion of a GME accredited residency and/or fellowship program, if working with children, must include additional residency with this age group. Previous work or moonlighting experience working as a psychiatrist in another licensed hospital is preferred. Leadership and/or supervisory experience in a behavioral health organization is preferred. Experience with process improvement implementation is preferred.

Qualifications

Physician must be physically and mentally able to perform job duties as verified by a physical exam by a licensed physician, per post-employment.

Verbal and hearing ability required to interact with patients and employees. Numerical ability required to maintain records and operate a computer. Must be able to read and communicate through written, verbal, and auditory skills and abilities.
