About the role
New York City Children’s Center (NYCCC) is a Joint Commission accredited facility within the Office of Mental Health (OMH). We are seeking a Board-Certified Children & Adolescent Psychiatrist to join our Bronx campus.
Responsibilities
Psychiatrists at OMH provide comprehensive and recovery-oriented psychiatric treatment services. They are responsible for integrating services to promote mental and physical health and recovery. Psychiatrists also serve as primary prescribers in psychopharmacology.
- Provide primary psychiatric care to patients
- Respond to urgent or emergency clinical issues
- Collaborate with other health care professionals to achieve treatment goals and ensure continuity and quality of care
- Assess and refer individuals for admission, transfer, discharge, and further treatment
- Review and maintain medical records and documentation consistent with facility, agency, State, and federal guidelines
- Serve as members of a multidisciplinary treatment team
Requirements
- Candidates must have a license and current registration to practice medicine in New York State, and completion of a training program in psychiatry approved by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN).
- Candidates must have certification in child and adolescent psychiatry approved by the ABPN.
- OR candidates must have a license and current registration to practice medicine in New York State, and certification in psychiatry approved by the ABPN, and certification in child and adolescent psychiatry approved by the ABPN.
Qualifications
Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement – Statewide (HELPS) program if they have:
- Candidate from outside or within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

Pay
From $270,356 to $310,022 Annually
Schedule
Evening shift, plus scheduled weekend hours. Weekends 8:00 - 10:30pm - Physician on Duty coverage.

- Psychiatrists at OMH facilities are eligible for the Psychiatrist Loan Repayment Program, supplemental income, defense and indemnification protection, and OMH sponsored Continuing Medical Education (CME) Program.

- Continued employment as a Psychiatrist 1 (C&Y) or Psychiatrist 2 (C&Y) is dependent upon current licensure to practice medicine and current certification in child and adolescent psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
