About the role
The Utah State Hospital invites applications for the position of Psychiatric Technician. This role provides essential, hands-on support in a fulfilling role at an in-patient psychiatric facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe, secure, and therapeutic environment for patients.
- Assist with maintaining patient care routines and schedules.
- Provide emotional support and guidance to patients.
- Monitor patients for signs of distress or potential harm.
- Document patient interactions and observations accurately.
Qualifications
- Pass a background check to work with vulnerable individuals.
- Work weekends and holidays (shift differentials may apply).
- Attend each day of new employee orientation (8 AM - 5 PM, 9 days).
Preferred Qualification
- Able to provide high-quality care to patients.
- Able to work sensitively and professionally with patients.
- Able to observe the environment and identify safety concerns.
- Able to respond appropriately in emergency situations.
About the Role
We currently offer full-time, Time Limited (TL) acuity pool positions. Medical insurance benefits are available and start day one for full-time employees. New psychiatric technicians can transition into full-time benefited (Schedule B) positions after completing training, subject to hospital needs. Additional benefits include paid holidays, annual and sick leave accruals, and elective benefits such as dental and vision insurance. The State of Utah offers various benefits to eligible employees.
