PSYCHIATRIC TECHNICIAN
About the role
The Stabilization Training Assistance Re-Integration (STAR) homes are staffed 24/7 and provide individuals with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities experiencing an acute crisis, to live and learn in an environment that will enable them to successfully return home or transition to less restrictive living settings in the community.
Responsibilities
- Provide general behavioral training and psychiatric nursing care to STAR consumers.
- Perform on-site direct care, training, and participate in recreational activities with consumers.
- Provide cross-training to the consumer’s community home staff or family to maintain a continuity of care.
- Maintain credentials in required or a Psychiatric Technician license and attend required trainings.
Requirements
Knowledge of: Cultural sensitivity for the population being served, positive behavioral supports, trauma informed care, coaching skills training, person centered practices, and how to utilize less restrictive techniques to address behavioral issues.
Possess and maintain sufficient strength, agility, endurance, and sensory ability to perform the duties contained in this duty statement.
At least six months’ prior experience providing direct care to individuals with developmental disabilities who have challenging behavior service needs is highly preferred.
Qualifications
Valid California Drivers License (CDL).
Drug Screening.
Background Investigation.
Psychiatric Technician license.
Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certificate within 12 months of employment.
Competency-based Direct Support Professional training I and II, or pass the challenge test, prior to or within one year of employment.
