Psychiatric Social Worker (MSW)

About the Role

This is a full-time, 40-hour weekly position with the Department of Social Services (DSS) at the South Dakota Human Services Center, the state’s only public psychiatric hospital. The role is within the Adult Acute program, serving adult patients by working as part of a treatment team to develop and oversee evidence-based treatment plans, and facilitate individual, group, and family therapy.

The Human Services Center provides individualized treatment services to meet the unique and changing needs of patients, enabling them to achieve their highest potential level of functioning and enhancing program integration with other public and private agencies for successful transitions between inpatient and outpatient settings.

This position primarily works Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Responsibilities

• Work within a treatment team to develop and implement treatment plans.
• Oversee the delivery of evidence-based treatment.
• Facilitate individual, group, and family therapy.
• Apply proper interviewing techniques and write meaningful, concise, and accurate reports and correspondence.
• Communicate effectively with a wide variety of people.
• Develop and implement effective therapy, treatment approaches, and teaching curriculum.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in social work.
• Licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Certified Social Worker in South Dakota.

Skills

• Strong interviewing techniques.
• Ability to write clear, accurate reports and correspondence.
• Effective communication with diverse populations.
• Experience developing and implementing therapy, treatment approaches, and curriculum.
• Ability to oversee treatment planning and delivery.

Pay

$33.48 hourly, depending on qualifications.
