PSYCHIATRIC NURSE PRACTITIONER (PMHNP) INPATIENT
About the role
Gulfport Behavioral Health System (a UHS facility) is an acute behavioral health hospital on the Mississippi Gulf Coast providing inpatient, partial hospitalization and outpatient services to children, adolescents, and adults. We have served our community for over 30‑years and our Patriot Support Program provides inpatient around‑the‑clock mental health treatment to help military members and their families, veterans, and first responders cope with stressful issues every day.
Position Summary: Join our expanding medical staff team where the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner assists in the process of evaluating patients. Responsible for psychiatric assessments for inpatient or outpatient populations and consults with the physician regarding treatment recommendations and referrals. Opportunities to work with various patient populations including children, adolescents, adults, military, and detox/transition patients.
Responsibilities
The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner assists in evaluating patients, conducts psychiatric assessments for inpatient or outpatient populations, consults with physicians on treatment recommendations and referrals, and works with diverse patient groups including children, adolescents, adults, military, and detox/transition patients.
Qualifications
- Education: Master’s Degree as a Nurse Practitioner or APRN and completion of a post‑graduate program for psychiatric mental health nursing.
- Experience: Preferably two or more years experience within a psychiatric setting; a minimum of two (2) years experience in an outpatient setting is preferred.
- Licensure: Licensed to practice in the State of Mississippi as a Nurse Practitioner or APRN. If medication privileges are exercised, prescriptive authority from the Board of Medical Examiners is required.

Schedule
The position is a day shift position Monday through Friday with on‑call responsibilities.
