Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner - Medication Management

Position summary

The ideal candidate is licensed in North Carolina, brings outpatient psychiatry experience, and is energized by the opportunity to expand access to mental health services in a collaborative clinic environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and ongoing medication management visits for outpatient clients.
  • Diagnose behavioral health conditions and develop evidence-based treatment plans that align with outpatient standards of care.
  • Preserve accurate documentation and follow clinic workflows, compliance requirements, and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with therapists, administrative staff, referral partners, and other care team members to ensure continuity of care.
  • Participate in team meetings, case consultation, and service development efforts related to psychiatry and medication management.

Requirements

  • Active and unrestricted North Carolina license as a Nurse Practitioner with authority to practice in psychiatric-mental health care.
  • Certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) strongly preferred or required.
  • DEA registration and prescriptive authority consistent with state and federal requirements.
  • Experience conducting psychiatric assessments and providing medication management in an outpatient mental health setting.
  • Strong documentation, communication, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations across the lifespan, including adolescents and adults.

Qualifications

  • Two or more years of experience in psychiatric or mental health practice is preferred.
  • Prior experience helping establish or grow a psychiatry or medication management program is preferred.
  • Comfort with telehealth and office-based care delivery.
  • Familiarity with Office 365 and behavioral health EHR platforms such as Valant is a plus.
