Position Summary

The Nurse Practitioner - Psychiatric supports patients at Family Health Center, 26 Queen Street, and Worcester Health Care for the Homeless, 199 Chandler Street. They provide comprehensive, cost-effective health care including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment according to advanced nursing standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintains working knowledge of and adheres to the program manual, agency handbook, and policies and procedures.
  • Commitment to cost-conscious, fiscally responsible, timely, efficient, effective, safe, patient-centered, culturally competent, equitable, and participatory health care.
  • Attends all required trainings as per agency policy, program manual, and funder guidelines.
  • Arrives on time for work and maintains regular and predictable attendance.
  • Maintains appropriate boundaries and ethical standards with staff, clients, visitors, and outside providers as detailed in agency policy.
  • Maintains positive and professional working relationships with co-workers, managers, clients, visitors, and outside providers.
  • Strong and clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent computer skills (including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook).

Program Specific Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides psychiatric health services, education, counseling, and emotional support.
  • Issues medication in accordance with treatment guidelines.
  • Collaborates with consulting psychiatrists.
  • Performs any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • One of the following combinations of education and employment experience must be met:
  • Graduate of an ANA accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Master’s Degree in Nursing required.
  • Minimum of five years of relevant experience as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with complex patient care.

Professional Licensure/Special Skills And Certification Requirements

  • Current licensure by Massachusetts Board of Nursing as Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner.
  • Current DEA/Mass Controlled Substance license for prescriptive authority.
  • BLS required.
