About the Role

We're seeking a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner to join our team of compassionate caregivers at Cibola General Hospital, a 25-bed critical access hospital. Our facility supports professional growth and development while providing excellent patient care. Located in Grants, NM—one hour from Albuquerque and close to Santa Fe—our community offers a mild year-round climate, outdoor activities, low property taxes, and affordable housing.

Cibola General Hospital provides a wide range of services, including general surgery, 24-hour emergency care, intensive care, internal medicine, obstetrics, pathology, pediatric dentistry, podiatry, primary care, radiology (X-ray, CT, MRI), three operating rooms (including a scope room), clinics, lab services, pharmacy, cardiopulmonary, and rehabilitation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate mental health assessment, diagnosis, treatment, consultation, education, and follow-up care for patients with mental illnesses, disorders, or substance abuse problems.
  • Examine patients and record medical history.
  • Adhere to proper charting protocols.
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop comprehensive care plans.
  • Order or execute diagnostic tests as needed.
  • Submit health care plans and goals for periodic physician review.
  • Analyze test results, diagnose conditions, and report findings to patients.
  • Administer or prescribe treatment and medications.
  • Refer patients to specialists as required for their well-being.
  • Perform other assigned responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing.
  • 3+ years of experience as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, including mental health assessment, diagnosis, triage, psychiatric medication management, treatment planning, and crisis intervention.
  • Current and active New Mexico Nurse Practitioner license in good standing.
  • National Board Certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) through ANCC.
  • Active DEA registration in good standing.
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
  • Experience with adult and/or child and adolescent populations.
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records systems (Cerner preferred).
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (preferred).

Conditions of Employment

  • Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check, reference checks, and a post-offer drug screen.
  • Must be employment-eligible as verified by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General (OIG) and the Government Services Administration (GSA).
  • Annual tuberculin screening required.
  • Compliance with hospital-required vaccinations and competencies.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position.
