About the role

Hightop Health is a physician-led practice offering innovative outpatient mental health care in Georgia. We are seeking a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) to join our integrative, collaborative team.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and assessments of patients.
  • Diagnose and treat mental illnesses and disorders including major depressive disorder, bipolar illnesses, ADHD, anxiety disorders, and co-morbid substance misuse.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor personalized treatment plans. Regularly assess and document patient progress toward their goals, making necessary adjustments to treatment plans to ensure optimal outcomes and enhanced overall well-being.
  • Refer and supervise effects of interventional treatments as appropriate including TMS, Esketamine (Spravato), and IV Ketamine. Refer patients who require intensive psychotherapy to IOP programming as indicated.
  • Prescribe medications and monitor effectiveness, side effects, and patients’ preferences to develop an ideal pharmacological regimen.
  • Provide support and education to patients and their families regarding mental health conditions and treatment options.
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of healthcare professionals—including psychiatrists, psychologists, and therapists—to coordinate comprehensive patient care and optimize treatment effectiveness.
  • Order medical work-ups including laboratory assessments, diagnostic tests, and specialty consultations to ensure that physical health and mental health are fully integrated.
  • Review data from clinical outcome measurements and use objective results in addition to subjective reports to modify treatment plans to help maximize effectiveness.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in an outpatient setting.
  • A Georgia state license and active DEA.
  • Board Certification.
  • Experience with mental health assessment, diagnosis, triage, managing common psychiatric medication and treatment plans, and managing crisis situations in an outpatient setting.
  • Experience working with Athena (EHR) preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Understanding of utilization management principles to optimize patient care.
  • In-depth knowledge of psychiatric disorders and treatment modalities.
  • Excellent diagnostic skills and ability to develop effective treatment plans.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a desire to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team; willingness to actively accept feedback from collaborating physicians and other teammates and incorporate constructive recommendations into clinical practice.
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate, timely record.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN) with a specialization in Psychiatric Mental Health.
  • Current licensure as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) in Georgia.
  • Experience with advanced therapies such as Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), ketamine infusions, and SPRAVATO®.
  • Experience with comprehensive medication management and psychotherapy.
  • Experience with electronic health records (EHR).
