About the role

The Connecticut Department of Correction seeks a qualified individual for a meaningful role as a Psychiatric Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (Psychiatric APRN) for the Health Services Unit. This role is located at various facilities across Connecticut, including Willard-Cybulski Correctional Institution/Carl-Robinson Correctional Institution in Enfield, CT and Hartford Correctional Center in Hartford, CT.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting comprehensive initial psychiatric evaluations;
  • Developing and implementing treatment plans;
  • Conducting risk assessments;
  • Coordinating with community supports and treatment providers;
  • Engaging in evidence-based psychiatric services including evaluation and management of psychotropic medications;
  • Providing care for a population with a full array of clinical diagnoses including mood, psychotic, and personality disorders.

Requirements

This is a Hazardous Duty Position and offers a pension plan, the State Employees Retirement System Tier IV. As a Hazardous Duty employee, you will be eligible to retire after just 25 years of service, regardless of your age.

This is a full-time, 40 hour per week position on first shift. Schedule is Monday-Friday between 7:00am and 3:00pm.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: Must have a Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN) with a specialization in psychiatric-mental health nursing, and a current license as a Psychiatric Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (Psychiatric APRN) in the state of Connecticut. Must have at least two years of experience in psychiatric nursing or related field.

Skills

Considerable knowledge of:

  • principles and practices of psychiatric nursing,
  • treatment modalities,
  • programs for individuals with mental illness,
  • therapeutic milieu,
  • ongoing application of psychotherapy services (individual, group and family).

Pay

$128,869 - $170,525/year

Schedule

First shift, Monday-Friday between 7:00am and 3:00pm
