About the role

Our services include a state-of-the-art psychiatric urgent care center, a soon-to-be-built pediatric behavioral health center, outpatient, inpatient, partial hospitalization (day programs), assessment and testing, residential, addiction treatment, and specialty services such as crisis response, employee assistance programs, forensic psychiatry and psychology, and neuromodulation. We offer on-the-job educational programs for nurses, psychologists, advanced practice providers, psychiatrists, and chaplains to equip the next generation of care providers.

Responsibilities

  • Assess persons served care needs, develop a plan of care in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, and continually reassess the plan of care according to the person’s needs.
  • In collaboration with the physician, provide/coordinate nursing care to individuals and groups of persons served.
  • Assist in the teaching of persons served, families, and provide milieu management. Communicate with and educate persons served, families, and significant others in discharge/aftercare planning needs.
  • Provide a safe and secure environment for persons served and staff in both individual and group settings.
  • Document, report, and verify all necessary information according to established policies and procedures.
  • Monitor for and report to the physician(s) any potential risk to persons served safety that could lead to an adverse outcome.
  • Create a customer/client-friendly environment by following quality improvement standards, maintaining professionalism, and initiating/maintaining positive relationships with departments, co-workers, and external customers.
  • Provide care in various clinical settings with diverse populations, identifying specific needs and implementing person-centered, compassionate care.
  • Function as a clinical leader, delegating/coordinating staff assignments and promoting staff development.
  • Responsible for the utilization and continued review of patient care protocols, standards of practice, and standards of care. Provide input into process improvement.
  • May train direct care staff and oversee medication and physical health activities in a program.
  • May be responsible for scheduling, staffing, and obtaining pre-authorizations.
  • Role model the mission and values of the organization, presenting a professional image in appearance, attitudes, behaviors, time management, and communication skills.
  • Provide spiritual, emotional, social, mental, and physical support to patients.
  • In the community residential setting, support and promote a recovery-focused environment and person-centered approach within the program.
  • Demonstrate the Hospital and Residential Services Model of Care in hospital and residential areas.
  • Maintain annual training and demonstrate competency in required programmatic training.

Requirements

  • Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Michigan.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing is preferred.
  • Professional knowledge of psychiatric nursing theory as required through completion of education from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Satisfactory previous clinical experience.

Schedule

Full-time, 32 hours weekly on an 8-hour shift (3pm–11:30pm). This is a full schedule (all core, no floating) with the following rotation:

  • Week 1: Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
  • Week 2: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday

Requires every other weekend and holiday rotation.
