Responsibilities

  • Oversee and support patients in such activities as eating, dressing, grooming, social manners and care for rooms and belongings.
  • Absorb and provide therapeutic and/or physical intervention under supervision for patients exhibiting aggressive or destructive behavior.
  • Communicate oral and written observations and behavioral information to the assigned nurse.
  • Participate in discussions with nursing staff regarding individual patient relationships and responses to therapy and treatment.
  • Assist patients in preparing for hospitalization by providing information on the hospital environment, operational routines, and standard practices.
  • Perform routine personal hygiene tasks for patients.
  • Transport, ambulate, move, and lift patients as needed.
  • Administer emergency first aid measures, such as handling of convulsions or fainting.
  • Provide constant, alert observation of patients assigned by the nurse.
  • Escort patients to various locations for procedures, tests, or court appearances.
  • Maintain orderliness of patient care and unit environment as directed.

Requirements

  • Evidence of a responsible work pattern including an outstanding attendance record and punctuality.
  • Child psychology experience or recent experience on a psychiatric unit preferred.

Qualifications

  • Must be available to work all shift schedules: night shift (11:00 p.m. - 7:30 a.m.), day shift (7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.), and evening shift (3:00 p.m. - 11:30 p.m.).

Pay

The salary range for this position is $XX.XX - $XXX.XX per hour.
