(PSR) Patient Service Representative
About the role
The Patient Service Representative (PSR) operates under the direct supervision of the Practice Manager, Program Director, or Program Coordinator. This role involves interacting with incoming and outgoing patients/visitors, providing courteous, respectful, and professional assistance. The PSR ensures accuracy throughout the registration and payment collection process while adhering to New Horizon Family Health Services' policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Greet and direct patients and visitors to the appropriate suite, department, or person.
- Verify and/or update patient demographic information in the electronic health record (EHR) system daily.
- Add, update, and verify insurance packages based on plan description and patient eligibility.
- Maintain daily patient appointment scheduling.
- Retrieve medical records requests as necessary.
- Address and maintain EHR bucket responsibilities daily, including patient care summaries, no-shows, and ticklers.
- Complete monthly no-show reports.
- Handle certification and recertification for the Sliding Fee Discount Program based on established criteria.
- Demonstrate math computation skills for collecting and entering payments into the EHR system.
- Receive and transfer telephone calls, providing assistance or forwarding messages in a timely manner.
- Perform end-of-day tasks such as time-of-service deposits and preparation for next-day appointments.
- Maintain effective communication between the front desk and clinical staff.
- Notify supervisor and/or management of any suspicious activity observed on or around Center property.
Requirements
- Education:
- Required: Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Preferred: Medical Office Training Certificate or other relevant education.
- Experience:
- Required: Customer service experience.
- Preferred: Two (2) years of experience in a medical office or other healthcare facility setting, and working knowledge of an Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
