Responsibilities
- Aid in OSHA required PHAs and 5-year PHA re-validations
- Aid in OSHA required PSM compliance audits and 3-year re-certification
- Coordinate regular team meetings with Operations, Maintenance (I&E and MI) to review and drive progress on Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) and various Audit (PSM, DHA, internal / owners) recommendations
- Set up and maintain tracking system for MOCs and overall compliance
- Support regular unit PHAs activities including generating adequate documentation for studies and generating reports (e.g., node P&IDs, equipment files, SOPs, etc.)
- Aid with Management of Change (MOC) activities including, but not limited to, participating in pre-startup safety reviews (PSSRs), answering basic MOC implementation questions, and providing regular PSM/MOC training to current and new SMEs
- Actively support HSSE activities during turnaround’s (TARs), including participating in safety review meetings and acting as a backup for other HSSE roles as needed
Qualifications / Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical or Safety Engineering degree or similar degree or High School Diploma and equivalent relevant experience
- Read and understand Process and Instrument Diagrams
- Knowledge in application and compliance requirements of regulatory codes (OSHA, EPA, etc.)
- Knowledge of processes, instrumentation, and mechanical equipment in a chemical or refinery plant
- Good computer proficiency, particularly in MS Excel, MS Access/MS SQL, and MS Word
- Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and influence others
