About the role
The Polysomnographic Technologist performs all types of diagnostic testing offered in the Center for Sleep Disorders Department. Functions include equipment and patient calibration, set-up, performance, documentation, and troubleshooting of Polysomnographic recordings, tabulation and processing of test information, sleep laboratory logistical operations. Also performs oversight, education and training of PSG and student technologists during the work shift.
Responsibilities
- Performs emergency procedures as needed
- Assumes responsibility and accountability for patients in the department and provides care to these patients through assessment, observation and documentation
- Participates in performance improvement program and new program development
Requirements
- Demonstrated ability to perform emergency procedures
- Ability to work in a stressful environment under minimal supervision
- Proficiency in organizational and prioritizing skills
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing in English
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Certification or Registered preferred
- Enrolled in or have completed the A-STEP Online Self Study Modules
