This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent with a preference for physical sciences coursework. Essential experience includes at least six months in a sleep center or completing a competency checklist for training. Candidates must be able to work independently with patients and have a minimum of one year of experience in cardiac monitoring, EEG, respiratory therapy, or nursing. A current CPR card and certification in emergency cardiopulmonary resuscitation are mandatory. The ability to handle patients’ needs sensitively and interact professionally with medical staff is crucial. Computer literacy and familiarity with basic cardiac arrhythmias are also required.

Education & Experience

• High school graduate or equivalent
• Preferred: Courses in physical sciences
• At least six months experience in a sleep center or completed competency checklist
• One year of experience in cardiac monitoring, EEG, respiratory therapy, or nursing
• Minimum of one year of experience in cardiac monitoring, EEG, respiratory therapy, or nursing
• Maintain a current CPR card and certification in emergency cardiopulmonary resuscitation

Physical Requirements

• Normal hospital environment
• Close eye work
• Hearing of both normal and soft tones
• Exposure to chemical hazards
• Operates sleep recorders, still camera, video-VCR, camera, microphone, intercom, monitor, phone tools – screwdriver
• Lifting up to 100 lbs. and carrying up to 40 lbs.
• Pushing/pulling up to 350 lbs.
• Frequent sitting, bending, reaching and stooping
• Occasional standing and walking

Work Conditions

• Safety-sensitive position
• Working independently during late night hours
• Primarily sitting and monitoring recordings in laboratory setting
• Very little human contact once patient goes to sleep
• Must be able to work with limited supervision
• Must act in a professional manner at all times due to the sensitive nature of the study
• Performs sleep studies requiring independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative under the direction of a physician and assistant patient services manager
• Expected to score sleep studies as deemed competent
