Position Details
The Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services (DPSCS) is seeking candidates for a Grade 19 position at Jessup Correctional Institution. The position involves providing administrative and clinical supervision, and leadership to addiction counselors.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and evaluate the work of addiction counselors, including client record reviews and monitoring treatment services.
- Assign tasks to addiction counselors related to data collection, reports, and substance use disorder services.
- Conduct meetings to review and revise procedures for substance use disorder assessments and counseling interventions.
- Establish and regularly monitor quality assurance to ensure proper treatment services and compliance with COMAR standards.
- Affirmatively assist the Director/Deputy Director of Substance Use Disorder Treatment Services in implementing regional substance use disorder services.
- Review clinical files to ensure completed documentation within the required timeframe.
- Conduct performance reviews for addiction counselors twice yearly in accordance with State personnel policies and procedures.
- Maintain contact with internal and external resources such as community-based addiction providers to support aftercare services.
- Participate in continued professional development through educational training.
Qualifications
- Determined by the Maryland State Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists under the requirements for Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselors or Certified Professional Counselors-Alcohol and Drug on or before September 30, 2008.
- Licensed by the Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists as a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor or as a Certified Professional Counselor-Alcohol and Drug on or before September 30, 2008.
- Graded courses in management and supervision as defined by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Administration (ADAA), Maryland State Department of Health.
Special Requirements
- Fluent in spoken and written English.
- Effective and respectful communication with diverse populations.
- Professional working fluency in Spanish, Mandarin, Korean, or another language is a plus.
- Possession of approved graded courses in management and supervision as defined by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Administration (ADAA), Maryland State Department of Health.
