Alcohol and Drug Certified Associate Counselor, Supervisor PSCS A/D Associate Counselor Supervisor

Position Details

The Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services (DPSCS) is seeking dedicated candidates to fill important roles within our department. We are one of the largest departments in Maryland with nearly 12,000 employees and a budget of more than $1 billion.

Grade and Location

This recruitment will be used to fill current and future vacancies across the state of Maryland. When completing the application, select all locations you are willing to work. Current Vacancies Are Located In Baltimore City.

Position Duties

The main purpose of this position is to provide substance abuse assessment and/or placement consultation to selected offenders under the jurisdiction of the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services, Division of Parole and Probation.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must meet all minimum qualifications and license requirements to be considered, and to appear on the list of people eligible for hire.

Education and Experience

Determined by the Maryland State Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists under the requirements for Certified Associate Counselors Supervisor-Alcohol and Drug.

Licenses, Registrations and Certifications

In accordance with Health Occupations Title 17 and Code of Maryland Regulations 10.58.07, candidates placed in this classification must be either certified by the Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists as a Certified Professional Counselor-Alcohol and Drug.

Special Requirements

The ideal candidate must be fluent in spoken and written English. The ideal candidate must effectively and respectfully communicate with diverse populations, providing services to individuals with different beliefs, behaviors, and interpersonal styles in confinement or community settings.

Professional Working Fluency in Languages

A professional working fluency in Spanish, Mandarin, Korean, or any other language is a plus.

Training Requirements

Candidates must possess graded courses in management and supervision as defined by the Abuse Administration (ADAA), Maryland State Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. This training must be approved by ADAA.

Additional Information

Personal Leave - new State employees are awarded six (6) personnel days annually (prorated based on start date)
