Affairs of the role involves assisting in conducting clinical research, providing patient care, and ensuring subject safety during trials. Duties include assessing and ensuring subject safety, proposing and negotiating alternatives for protocols, educating staff about scientific aspects of studies, applying pharmacological knowledge, evaluating adverse events, reporting serious adverse events, presenting information to the community, mentoring and training new employees, determining personnel and timelines, reviewing study data, preparing emergency use reports, managing pharmacokinetic collection and storage, relating lab results to the principal investigator and sponsor, ensuring equipment maintenance and calibration, and performing bedside care.
- Assesses and ensures subject safety during trial.
- Proposes and negotiates alternatives for protocol.
- Educates staff about the scientific aspects of the study.
- Applies pharmacological knowledge to help PI determine idiosyncrasies and unexpected results.
- Evaluates adverse events (AE), intervenes when necessary and reports details to PI.
- Conducts follow-up to determine resolution of AE.
- Reports serious AEs to IRB and sponsor.
- Presents related information to community for recruitment purposes or to other research professionals in a variety of settings.
- Mentors and trains new and subordinate employees.
- Helps determine personnel required to complete trial and develop the timeline for trial completion.
- Reviews study related data to assure compliance with study protocol.
- Prepares emergency use report.
- Manages pharmacokinetic collection and storage.
- Relates lab results to PI and sponsor.
- Ensures appropriate maintenance and calibration of equipment.
- May perform bedside care.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications: RN license in the state of Utah plus two years related experience required. Depending on area of assignment, CCRP, ACRP-CRC, SOCRA-CCRP certification may be required. Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system. The eCredential is to be obtained within 30 days of hire. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills also required. The hiring department may also prefer experience in a specific area of nursing.
Qualifications
The staff member must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of life span growth and development and the ability to assess data regarding the patient's status and provide care as described in the department's policies and procedures manual.
