About the role
Provides psychotherapy to assigned youth and their families, including individual, family, and group therapy. Uses interventions based on Cognitive-Behavioral theory. Leads assigned youth’s multidisciplinary team, completes initial assessments, develops a Comprehensive Treatment Plan, and ensures appropriate discharge planning.
Responsibilities
- Completes an initial Biopsychosocial Assessment and Initial Comprehensive Treatment Plan for each assigned youth within 14 days of admission.
- Documents all therapeutic interactions with youth and their family/guardian on an ongoing basis following program and hospital guidelines.
- Serves as multidisciplinary team leader for assigned youth, ensuring ongoing implementation of a Comprehensive Treatment Plan. Team members include professionals and family members connected with the youth's welfare and treatment.
- Reviews and documents progress and barriers every 30 days.
- Works closely with the Supervising Medical Practitioner to ensure appropriate interventions are implemented.
- Provides individual, family, and group therapy using Cognitive Behavioral theory supported by the Boys Town Psychoeducational Model.
- Serves as the primary communicator between assigned youth’s families and/or guardians and others involved.
- Collaborates professionally with community agencies to ensure a smooth transition for assigned youth.
- Notifies appropriate agencies or authorities regarding potential abuse or neglect, safety concerns, and youth rights violations.
- Keeps the PRTF Director and Medical Director/Supervising Practitioner informed as appropriate.
- Complies with applicable trainings, policies, and procedures regarding emergency safety situations that may require physical intervention (personal restraint).
- Demonstrates professionalism by acting as a multidisciplinary team member, including helping with coverage needs when applicable.
- Consistently implements and supports the Psychoeducational Model of treatment, including giving, receiving, implementing, and soliciting feedback in a timely manner.
- Demonstrates effective communication with coworkers, supervisors, and consumers while taking responsibility for personal and professional development through attendance at mandatory staff meetings and training sessions.
- Models appropriate life skills including hygiene, grooming, dress, manners, and language.
- Participates in Clinical Supervision based on state guidelines with an assigned Licensed Mental Health Provider.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Counseling or Social Work is required.
- Certified, or eligible for certification, by the State of Nebraska Department of Health as a licensed Mental Health Practitioner required.
- PEM training within 6 months of hire required.
- Possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record and pass an annual Motor Vehicle Registration (MVR) check.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule to accommodate the needs of families served.
- Obtain CPR certification and training in a nationally recognized personal restraint model during Preservice.
- Minimum 20 years of age.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of two years of experience working with behavioral disordered youth.
- Training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
