About the role

The Provider Communications Team within Optum Behavioral Health has a singular focus: Ensuring our providers receive clear, concise, applicable and actionable information from us. Our goal is to make it easier for them to deliver quality care to our members and complete the administrative tasks that go hand-in-hand with delivering that care. You'll have a direct impact on the relationship our 500,000+ providers have with us.

The role manages two primary responsibilities within the Optum Behavioral Health Provider Communications Team: a monthly provider digital newsletter, and development of strategic communication plans and materials.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Top of Mind monthly newsletter program from end to end: From content planning to writing, editing and proofreading; through production, distribution and analytics; along with long-term strategic planning
  • Lead the planning and development of strategic communications programs for core initiatives, in collaboration with key stakeholders and implementation teams
  • Facilitate discussions with program stakeholders and business partners across the enterprise to build data-driven and provider-centric awareness of communication needs, preferences and touchpoints
  • Drive continuous improvement efforts to simplify and streamline the provider communications experience. Analyze data to draw insights and make recommendations for future planning. Identify gaps and opportunities in the provider communication process and workflows, including resolving any technical, operational and organizational challenges
  • Support and collaborate on the design and implementation of new programs and communication channels that build/nurture positive relationships between Optum Behavioral Health, providers and practice managers
  • Collaborate on resource planning and the development of guidelines and criteria to ensure communication and training efforts meet provider needs and support business goals
  • Ensure that communication programs are strategic and meet content, brand and quality standards. Maintain brand standards for Provider Communications team

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience writing for a digital environment, including copywriting, e-newsletters, email and web, with the ability to translate complex information and jargon into clear and actionable messaging
  • 8+ years of experience developing, implementing and managing strategic communication plans. Must be able to demonstrate the ability to prioritize projects and align resources appropriately
  • 5+ years of provider relations communications experience, including 3+ years working with Medicare and Medicaid regulations
  • 5+ years of managing projects that require an exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to highlight and manage potential roadblocks and challenges before they occur
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, stakeholders and technical teams
  • Proven project management skills, with aptitude for managing multiple projects with competing deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing a digital newsletter or other regular digital communication channel
  • Experience with AEM and AJO publishing, or willingness to learn
  • Ability to lead projects through ambiguity with flexibility and confidence
  • Demonstrated ability to pivot quickly when issues occur and plans change, whether technical, regulatory or program implementation
  • Familiarity with web and digital analytics/tools

Pay

The salary for this role will range from $91,700 - $163,700 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, and certifications.

Schedule

You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere within the U.S. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week. All employees working remotely will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group's Telecommuter Policy.
