Prototype Build Engineer

About the role

The Prototype Build Engineer will manage all prototype build activities, including developing and communicating build plans based on vehicle specifications, coordinating purchasing, tracking development, and monitoring program timing for parts. This individual will lead multiple teams to ensure all program deliverables are met and resolve issues affecting build quality, engineering design, manufacturing processes, and timing.

Responsibilities

• Develop and communicate build plans based on vehicle specifications.
• Coordinate purchasing and track development of prototype parts.
• Monitor program timing for parts and ensure deliverables are met.
• Lead multiple teams to resolve issues affecting build quality, engineering design, manufacturing processes, and timing.
• Direct issue resolution at all levels of the organization.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Industrial Engineering.
• Strong mechanical engineering foundation with exposure to engineering design, manufacturing engineering, and process engineering.
• Basic knowledge of vehicle build processes.
• Fluency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to prepare presentations and present to all levels of the organization.
• Strong self-starter with the ability to manage multiple programs and communicate status to management.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of relevant experience in the automotive or aerospace industry (preferred).
• Mechanical Engineering degree (preferred).
• Formula SAE experience, relevant automotive internship, capstone projects, or experience in design, manufacturing, and process engineering (preferred for entry-level candidates).
