About the role

The State of Connecticut, Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) is hiring three (3) Protective Services Trainees (Police) at our Middletown campuses. This position is the entry-level training pathway to become a DMHAS Police Officer. In this role, you will complete academy and field training as part of a working test period. After successfully completing both academy and field training requirements, you will be eligible for appointment to the target class of Police Officer, with responsibility for protecting life and property.

Requirements

  • Authorized to work lawfully in the United States by date of appointment
  • Reached 21st birthday
  • High School diploma or GED certification prior to admission to the Connecticut Police Training Academy
  • Valid Motor Vehicle Operator's license during employment
  • Established residence within Connecticut before becoming a sworn member of the DMHAS Police
  • Possess and retain a valid Motor Vehicle Operator's license during employment
  • Physical Fitness Assessment

Qualifications

  • Minimum experience and training requirements must be met by the close date on the job opening, unless otherwise specified
  • Educational credits from accredited institutions must be accurately listed on the application
  • Resume policy: Per Public Act 21-69, resumes are not accepted during the initial application process

Pay

Salary calculations are not necessarily comparable from one of the three branches of state government (i.e., Executive, Legislative, Judicial) to the other.

Schedule

Full-time, 40 hours per week
