About the Role
As a Protective Services Officer, you will:
- Respond to emergency calls for assistance and ensure rapid, professional incident resolution.
- Monitor behavioral health units and provide direct support to clinical staff in high-acuity environments.
- Participate in firearms training and other healthcare-specific security programs to maintain a safe, therapeutic setting.
Schedule
- 12-hour shifts
- On call as needed

Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED (required).
- Experience: Healthcare Public Safety/Police (preferred).
- Licensure/Certification:
- IAHSS Basic and/or Advanced Training Certifications within 6 months of hire (required).
- NCPPSB Armed Security Officer Registration Permit within 12 months of hire (required).
- NC state-approved curricula for restrictive interventions (facility-specific) within 3 months of hire (required).
- BLS/CPR within 90 days of hire (required).
- Must qualify for and maintain a North Carolina Private Protective Services Board Armed Security Officer Registration Permit in accordance with annual training and qualification standards.
- Public contact experience.
- Satisfactorily completes all required organizational and departmental training courses, including those supporting Emergency Management (e.g., decontamination or hazardous materials awareness).
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to complete generic and department-specific skills validation and competency testing.
- Ability to accurately receive and transmit information by radio and telephone.
- Ability to translate observations and information into legible, complete, and accurate reports.
- No criminal record.
- Maintains a valid driver’s license in the state of residence.
- Compliance with Novant Health Vehicle Use, Requirements & Guidelines Policy.
- Immediately notifies Director of Public Safety or Public Safety Manager of any charges relating to the operation of a motor vehicle and/or criminal complaint.
Preferred Skills: Security, law enforcement, or military experience.
