About the role

The Department of State seeks a highly skilled individual to support their Worldwide Protective Services III (WPS III) Task Orders in austere environments. The selected candidate will be responsible for protecting the client in a high-threat location through various protective security functions.

Responsibilities

  • Perform day-to-day personal protective security functions.
  • Drive the lead vehicle, principal's vehicle, follow vehicle, and/or act as a response agent during motorcade or similar operations.
  • Carry and operate weapons as specified in daily post and detail orders, or upon orders from the USC or SL.
  • Participate in advance security preparations.
  • Man the security post at the principal's residence, the command post, or other static posts as required.
  • Serve as a member of a Quick Reaction Force (QRF) as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must possess a minimum of three (3) years of applicable experience, with at least one (1) year including experience in protective security assignments.
  • Must have a valid U.S. Driver’s License and U.S. Passport with no less than 6 months remaining before expiration.
  • Must be proficient in the ability to speak, write, and communicate in English.
  • Must pass the pre-employment Physical Readiness Test (PRT) and qualify with the Glock-19, M4 or MK18 (as specified by the designated TO), M240, and M249.
  • Must complete the WPS III PRT.

Qualifications

  • Must be approved for a Department of State Medical Clearance.
  • Must be physically able to perform tasks such as walking, squatting, crawling, running, quickly entering/exiting vehicles, maneuvering around obstacles, carrying heavy equipment and personnel, and operating mission-essential issued equipment requiring dexterity.
  • Must be able to operate and/or travel in vehicles on improved and unimproved roadways, as well as off-road.
  • Must be physically able to carry and operate firearms.
  • Must maintain physical fitness readiness that includes, but is not limited to: medium and/or long-distance running, bench presses, agility runs, push-ups, sit-ups, and stretching.
  • Must be able to sit and/or stand for long periods with minimal breaks.
  • Must possess no medical or physical impediments to traveling overseas to and within countries considered dangerous or unhealthy.
  • Must be able to travel long distances in airplanes, helicopters, and road vehicles.
