About the role

The Department of State seeks candidates to support their Worldwide Protective Services III (WPS III) Task Orders in austere environments. The primary function involves protecting the client in a high-threat location through various security operations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform day-to-day personal protective security functions.
  • Drive the lead vehicle, principal's vehicle, follow vehicle, and/or act as a response agent during motorcade or similar operations.
  • Carry and operate weapons as specified in daily post and detail orders.
  • Participate in advance security preparations.
  • Man the security post at the principal's residence, the command post, or other static posts as required.
  • Serve as a member of a Quick Reaction Force (QRF) as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must have a minimum of three (3) years of applicable experience, with at least one (1) year including protective security assignments.
  • Must have a valid U.S. Driver’s License and U.S. Passport with no less than 6 months remaining before expiration.
  • Must be proficient in English and pass the pre-employment Physical Readiness Test (PRT).
  • Must qualify with the Glock-19, M4 or MK18 (as specified by the designated TO), M240, and M249, and complete the WPS III PRT.

Qualifications

  • Must possess a valid U.S. Driver’s License.
  • Must have a valid U.S. Passport with no less than 6 months remaining before expiration.
  • Must be proficient in English.
  • Must pass the pre-employment Physical Readiness Test (PRT).

Training (Paid Training)

  • Attend and successfully complete the DOS Protective Security Specialist Basic and Quick Reaction Force training course.
  • Pass a weapon and PRT requalification course on TO if already completed within the last 3 years.
  • Complete the WPS III PRT.

Physical Requirements and Work Conditions

  • Must be approved for a Department of State Medical Clearance.
  • Must be able to walk, squat, crawl, run, quickly enter/exit vehicles, maneuver around obstacles, carry heavy equipment and personnel, and operate mission-essential issued equipment requiring dexterity.
  • Must be able to operate and/or travel in vehicles on improved and unimproved roadways, as well as off-road.
  • Must be physically able to carry and operate firearms.
  • Must maintain physical fitness readiness that includes, but is not limited to: medium and/or long-distance running, bench presses, agility runs, push-ups, sit-ups, and stretching.
  • Must be able to sit and/or stand for long periods with minimal breaks.
  • Must possess no medical or physical impediments to traveling overseas to and within countries considered dangerous or unhealthy.
  • Must be able to travel long distances in airplanes, helicopters, and road vehicles.
