About The Role
As a Propulsion Test Engineering Intern, you will gain hands-on experience working with high-performance propulsion systems, supporting engine and system-level testing. You will work closely with engineers and technicians to set up test campaigns, monitor data, and troubleshoot issues, directly contributing to Hermeus’ hypersonic development efforts.
Responsibilities
- Work alongside experienced engineers to assist in designing, setting up, and operating test stands, learning the fundamentals of propulsion system testing
- Instrument test setups, monitor test conditions, and analyze performance data to contribute to system improvements and troubleshooting efforts
- Partner with engineers and technicians to refine test processes, enhance safety procedures, and develop a deeper understanding of propulsion systems in a real-world testing environment
Requirements
- Practical experience designing, building, and testing vehicles through internships, studies or projects
- Must be currently enrolled in a STEM program at an accredited college or university (undergraduate student in your third or fourth year of study, or enrolled in a Master's or Ph.D. program)
- Strong interest in propulsion systems and testing
- Strong understanding of engineering first principles
- Demonstrated ability to work within cross-functional teams
- Enthusiasm for aviation and Hermeus's mission
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- GPA of 3.0 or above
