Propulsion Engineer Intern - Fall 2026

About the role

Hermeus is a venture-backed defense aviation company focused on rapid iterative prototyping to build the fastest aircraft. We work with the Department of War to deliver high-speed systems at the pace of the modern battlefield.

Responsibilities

• Support the design and development of propulsion components and systems from conceptual design through detailed mechanical design
• Create and release engineering drawings and collaborate with manufacturing teams and external vendors to produce hardware
• Aid in defining, configuring, and setting up propulsion test rigs
• Support the execution and documentation of propulsion hardware testing and development activities

Requirements

• Practical experience designing, building, and testing vehicles through internships, studies or projects
• Currently enrolled in a STEM program at an accredited college or university (undergraduate student in your third or fourth year of study, or enrolled in a Master's or Ph.D. program)
• Strong interest in propulsion systems, design, and testing
• Demonstrated ability to work within cross-functional teams
• Enthusiasm for aviation and Hermeus's mission
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• GPA of 3.0 or above
