Proposal Writer Principal
About the role
The Proposal Writer position at SAIC is a senior-level role within the Proposal Development Center (PDC). This role requires a seasoned professional with extensive experience in writing original content for Federal Request for Proposal (RFP) documents.
Responsibilities
- Provide full lifecycle support for Federal proposal development, including content planning, template development, and writing and editing key sections such as resumes, past performance, and narrative volumes.
- Coach and mentor junior writers and participate in process improvement initiatives.
- Share insights in peer and color reviews and apply analytical skills to enhance proposal quality and efficiency using proprietary AI tools.
- Engage in capturing innovative solutions that support government needs, including military and defense sectors.
Requirements
- BA or BS degree or higher (or equivalent) in Journalism, English, Business, Information Technology, Communication Arts, or related field.
- At least 10 years of solid Federal proposal writing experience, preferably in solutions-based proposals. A Master's degree can substitute for 2 years of experience.
- Active TS/SCI clearance with a preference for DMV area residents.
- Experience with FEDSIM/AAS, OTA, and Self-Scoring bids is a plus.
- Knowledge of infrastructure modernization, applications/software development and sustainment, cloud solutions, warfighter solutions, and agile methodologies for defense, civilian, space, and national security sectors of the federal government.

- Experience with writing proposals or technical documents for the Federal Government.
- Excellent communication and writing skills, including grammar and style.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with peers and stakeholders.

Pay
$120,001 - $160,000 per year. The target salary range is based on experience and other factors.
Schedule
This position offers hybrid work opportunities with primary work being completed in the Reston or Chantilly, Virginia areas. The candidate should be local to the Northern Virginia area.
