About the role
The Proposal Specialist will own the commercial proposals from drafting to submission, ensuring they are clear, technically accurate, and tailored to customer needs. This includes translating complex technical information into accessible narratives and supporting the sales team throughout the bidding process.
Responsibilities
- Drafting and editing proposal narrative, including executive summaries, capability statements, and case studies
- Translating input from Engineering, Product, and Sales subject matter experts into clear, customer-focused writing
- Building and maintaining proposal schedules, calendars, and checklists
- Tracking submission requirements and confirming on-time, compliant delivery
- Supporting kickoff meetings and following up to keep contributions on schedule
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in proposal writing, proposal coordination, or a similar role
- Demonstrated ability to write clearly about technical subject matter for a non-technical audience
- Strong organizational skills and comfort managing multiple deadlines simultaneously
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office/Google Workspace
- Comfortable interviewing subject matter experts to extract content that doesn’t yet exist on paper
Bonus Qualifications
- Background in the marine, maritime, or clean energy industries
- Experience in desktop publishing or design tools
- Familiarity with commercial procurement or bid processes
- Comfortable pushing at a fast but sustainable pace
- Enthusiasm for boating and the water
