Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Technical Writing, Business, or a related field. A technical degree or background is a plus.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in federal proposal writing or technical writing within the government contracting industry.
- Familiarity with Shipley or APMP proposal methodologies.
- Experience using standard proposal management software, collaboration suites, or digital writing assistants to streamline workflows is preferred.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.
Skills
- Exceptional technical writing, copywriting, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Strong organizational skills and flexibility to manage diverse assignments under tight deadlines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), SharePoint, and collaborative platforms.
- Familiarity with AI-enabled writing or research platforms (e.g., ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot) is a plus.

About the Role
The ideal candidate will work from our corporate office in Huntsville, AL, collaborating with cross-functional teams, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), and business development leaders to deliver high-scoring, compliant proposals. This role focuses on traditional technical proposal writing, leveraging modern collaboration and productivity tools to streamline workflows and maintain a competitive edge.
Responsibilities
- Draft clear, compliant, and persuasive executive summaries, technical narratives, and management plans.
- Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to translate complex technical concepts into clear, high-level proposal content.
- Ensure all content strictly adheres to RFP instructions, evaluation criteria, and Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR).
- Maintain and update a repository of proposal content (boilerplate, past performance, templates) for efficient organization and reuse.
- Conduct market research and support business development by updating opportunity databases and SharePoint trackers.
- Aid in drafting internal and external materials (newsletters, press releases, marketing collateral) as needed.
