About the role

This position supports property disposal operations by reviewing reports, inspecting property, resolving database discrepancies, managing visitor control, and coordinating shipment appointments.

Duties

  • Reviews excess property reports for technical accuracy and inspects property to ensure item identities and conditions are correctly described
  • Supports customer inquiries and actions related to property
  • Researches, reconciles, and advises on a broad range of database rejects and records discrepancies for many different types of property disposal actions
  • Serves as the primary visitor control point of contact for DLA Disposition Services and manually screens all incoming and outgoing vehicles, passenger baggage, and personnel prior to entering field office facilities
  • Manages the scheduling database for incoming and outbound shipment appointments

Qualifications

To qualify for a Property Disposal Technician, your resume and supporting documentation must support:

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position.

GS-07 level: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Creditable specialized experience includes applying property disposal policies, procedures, and objectives; completing property disposal assignments and resolving individual case problems.

GS-05 level: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Creditable specialized experience includes referencing property disposal policies, procedures, and objectives; assisting with property disposal tasks under close supervision.

Education substitution

Education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work and must be from a college or university accredited by an organization approved by the U.S. Department of Education. If using education to meet basic qualifications, you MUST submit a transcript as supplemental documentation.

  • GS-07: As a general rule, education is not creditable above GS-05 for most positions covered by this standard; however, graduate education may be credited in those few instances where the graduate education is directly related to the work of the position
  • GS-05: 4 years above high school
  • Combination: Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements at grade GS-05. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience at grade GS-05

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience
  • If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet qualification requirements, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university
  • This position does not meet criteria for appointment of Reemployed Annuitants
