At Allstate, great things happen when our people work together to protect families and their belongings from life’s uncertainties. For more than 90 years, our innovative drive has kept us a step ahead of our customers’ evolving needs—from advocating for seat belts, air bags, and graduated driving laws to leading in pricing sophistication, telematics, and device and identity protection.

About the role

As a Field Property Adjuster, you will provide exceptional service to our policyholders by traveling to customers' homes to conduct on-site inspections, investigate coverage, prepare estimates, and settle claims promptly and efficiently. You will also handle virtual claims countrywide using platforms like Xactimate and ClaimsX Video Collaboration, with a focus on water losses to ensure customers receive high-level support and resolution.

Responsibilities

  • Live into Allstate’s Claims Culture by caring, empowering, and restoring through compassionate, clear, and committed claim handling.
  • Investigate property claims independently by reviewing damage and interpreting policies to determine coverage.
  • Communicate with customers via phone, email, or video to guide them through a fast, fair, and easy claims process, tailoring communication to their preferences.
  • Evaluate and negotiate claims settlements with customers, vendors, third-party carriers, and claimants in accordance with legal and business standards, including handling complex situations.
  • Utilize tools like Xactimate, job aids, and settlement platforms to solve problems efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Protect the company financially by adhering to policy agreements and maintaining clear, accurate, and timely documentation in claims systems.

Requirements

  • 2 years of previous experience as an outside adjuster is highly desired.
  • Proficiency in Xactimate and other estimating software.
  • Strong critical thinking and technical skills to assess damages and expedite claims settlements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for exceptional customer service.
  • Ability to travel to customers' homes and handle virtual claims countrywide.
  • Detail-oriented and organized, with a focus on delivering high-quality work.
  • Residency within Birmingham, AL is mandatory.
  • Willingness and ability to carry a 50-pound ladder and access roofs with up to a 6/12 pitch on one to two-story buildings.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel as required.
  • This position is not available for residents of California, Alaska, Hawaii, or Puerto Rico.

Training

You will receive comprehensive training to build a claims foundation and understand day-to-day systems and processes. Ongoing training opportunities for continuous improvement are provided. You will attend approximately 2 weeks of in-person training in Dallas, TX.

As a condition of employment, you may be required to obtain an adjuster and/or appraiser license, including passing a background check with the Department of Labor.
