About the role
Drive energy trucks over established routes to deliver propane to customer residences, farms, and commercial businesses. Record transactions on customer deliveries and obtain customer signatures on receipts.
Responsibilities
- Assist propane sales and service personnel with the installation of LP tanks and equipment.
- Ensure customer satisfaction by promoting good relations; assist in product selection and advise on use and application of products sold.
- Test LP systems for leaks and deliver LP cylinders.
- Assist in collecting accounts and contracting of LP; handle complaints promptly.
- Inform customers of new products or services and communicate sales leads to energy salesperson.
- Complete and turn in daily sales reports and conduct inventory of truck and LP plant.
- Adhere to the uniform policy and maintain a professional image.
- Operate computer using ticket creation software.
- Maintain truck and plant equipment according to company standards; perform routine maintenance on the truck.
- Work additional hours to meet seasonal demands; allow flexibility in work schedule to ensure order completion.
- Adhere to company environmental, health, and safety policies; complete required safety training.
- May serve on the location Safety Committee.
- Exercise initiative or perform additional duties as directed to meet organizational needs.
Requirements
- High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
- One to two years or more of related work experience preferred but willing to train.
- Appropriate driver’s license, CDL with Hazmat, Tank, and air brakes endorsements.
- Must pass required CEPT schooling.
- Must be insurable to operate required vehicles.
- Ability to operate required vehicles and use applicable company computer programs, such as ticket-making software.
Skills
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
- Mathematical skills to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; compute rate, ratio, and percent; draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions; deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Physical Demands
- Considerable strenuous physical activity, including frequent climbing of tall ladders and lifting heavy objects (70+ pounds).
- Use of transportation equipment.
