About the role

Armstrong World Industries (AWI) is seeking a West-Coast Region Sales Support Specialist based in Lancaster, PA. This role reports to the Sr. Manager of Design & Specialty Solutions for ProjectWorks within the Commercial Digitalization group. You will utilize sales and technical skills, product knowledge, and an understanding of organized project workflows to perform initial project reviews, provide technical support, and ensure the completion of project drawing packages and takeoffs. The role involves heavy collaboration with internal teams (ProjectWorks Sales and Operations, Architectural Specialties, AWI Sales) and external customers (sub-contractors, general contractors, distributors, architects, and designers). The estimated work hours are 9 AM – 6 PM Eastern to cover west-coast office hours.

Responsibilities

  • Build relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Support selling teams by providing product and technical expertise in a timely manner.
  • Scope project requests thoroughly for the ProjectWorks team.
  • Educate the general field sales team on technical support for targeted projects.
  • Determine customer requirements and expectations to recommend specific products and solutions.
  • Recommend products based on cost, availability, and specifications to increase customer satisfaction.
  • Identify new product opportunities, installation improvements, or performance enhancements.
  • Partner with project managers, design teams, and sales reps to develop project design successes.
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams to scope project requests across all construction phases.
  • Evaluate and prioritize project opportunities that drive profitable growth.
  • Act as the point of contact between customers and various departments during design and bid phases.
  • Manage Design Digital Services opportunities in Salesforce.com.
  • Work directly with the design team and subject matter experts to create and refine solutions.
  • Provide accurate drawing package documents to customers.
  • Offer pre-construction support services, including technical and informational assistance to contractors.

Grade-Specific Duties

  • ProjectWorks Associate Sales & Design Analyst – Grade 8
    • Review all submitted project requests with the team.
    • Participate in initial design calls.
    • Support writing specifications upon request.
    • Support project scoping and follow-up across all construction phases.
    • Update project status in SFDC.
    • Own and update the ProjectWorks request queue.
    • Participate in project handoff meetings with internal team members.
    • Make product solution recommendations with minor supervision.
  • ProjectWorks Staff Sales & Design Analyst – Grade 9 (includes Grade 8 duties plus:)
    • Schedule and lead initial design calls.
    • Make product recommendations without supervision.
    • Work directly with architects on proper design considerations.
    • Collaborate with the ISS/ISSM team to make recommendations during pre-construction support.
    • Demonstrate increased knowledge of all AWI product offerings.
    • Maintain a high comfort level in customer-facing interactions.
  • ProjectWorks Senior Sales & Design Analyst – Grade 10 (includes Grade 9 duties plus:)
    • Serve as a leader for the Sales Support team.
    • Act as a functional expert for all AWI product offerings.
    • Train and present to internal and external customers on ProjectWorks offerings and processes.
    • Play a critical role in refining and implementing processes.
    • Coordinate and integrate new products/solutions.
    • Lead sales efforts for ProjectWorks.
    • Track and report metrics on a monthly basis.
    • Manage process improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant construction industry experience (3+ years for Grade 8, 5+ years for Grade 9, 7+ years for Grade 10).
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Proficiency with standard MS Office software.
  • Superior organizational and communication skills, with strong attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of Salesforce (SFDC).
  • Project management experience within the construction industry preferred.
  • Familiarity with estimating, reading blueprints, and understanding the construction process preferred.
  • Armstrong product knowledge across all business units preferred.
  • Proven experience in a customer-facing role that includes influencing sales preferred.

Pay

The estimated base salary range for this role is $68,000 – $90,000 per year. Individual pay is based on location, skills, expertise, experience, and other relevant factors.

Schedule

Estimated work hours are 9 AM – 6 PM Eastern to cover west-coast office hours. While much of the role can be completed remotely, employees are expected to come into the office for regular team or project meetings at least three days (60%) of the workweek.

Work Environment

The role is primarily office-based in environmentally controlled conditions with standard office noise levels. It requires the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. A 6-foot social distance and face mask are required if an employee is not fully vaccinated. Masks are optional for fully vaccinated employees.
