Projects Specialist

Responsibilities

• Repair of plant equipment and property
• Maintain plant equipment and property
• Maintenance project work
• Attend daily start-up and pass-down meetings
• Work with Maintenance Manager on equipment updates and projects
• Complete any other assigned work

Qualifications

• Must fulfill all the requirements of a Maintenance “A” and Maintenance “Journeyman”
• Production comes first; must be able to balance downtime with project work
• Able to work with the Maintenance Manager on equipment updates, concepts, and projects
• Able to work on projects from concept, design, material list/ordering, and implementation
• Must be able to document projects when needed (electrical, layout, operation, etc.)
• Must be willing to work off-hours and days to complete projects if needed or to meet timelines
• Must be able to build electrical panels based on concepts agreed upon with the Maintenance Manager
• Must understand electrical drawings, ladder programming, and the correlation between them
• Must understand electrical components (switches, photo eyes, proximity switches, NPN, PNP, NC, NO, sinking, sourcing, digital, and analog)
• Must be able to work with vendors and contractors
• Must answer every call every time, even when working on something else or on break, to ensure management can prioritize duties efficiently
• Must take a leadership role in pass-down/wrap meetings
• Must communicate well with management and other mechanics
• Must complete paperwork in a timely manner
• Must work well without supervision; take on needed duties without being told
• Must be willing to help train new mechanics
• Ability to work efficiently and independently
• Must be able to lift up to 80 pounds

Management has the final say on whether a mechanic qualifies as a Project Specialist based on the above criteria. New hires with outstanding previous experience or a degree in Industrial Maintenance (or similar) may be hired at Project Specialist pay if management determines they can meet all qualifications within 6 months. If a mechanic does not meet the qualifications within 6 months, management may offer a lower-grade position or the employee can bid on an open position in the plant or claim a general production position.
