Project Technician II

About the Role
The position involves compiling and processing data for entry into the City’s Infrastructure Management System (IMS), specifically related to work orders for sanitary sewer rehabilitation, cleaning, and inspection contracts. The selected candidate will collaborate closely with the CCTV and Rehabilitation teams to ensure project objectives and timelines are met.
Responsibilities
- Prepare work order packages, including maps and documentation using ArcGIS Pro/Online, Infor IPS, and Microsoft Office.
- Perform data entry and updates in Infor IPS to support work order creation, tracking, and reporting.
- Maintain and update GIS data for sanitary sewer assets based on field information and project needs.
- Support CCTV and rehabilitation teams by compiling data and creating maps or documents as needed.
- Review work order information for completeness, consistency, and basic accuracy before issuance.
- Coordinate with internal teams to provide data, maps, and documentation to support daily operations.
- Review cleaning and television work orders, investigate and respond to citizens’ complaints related to contractor’s work, and prepare work order maps using various GIS and IMS platforms.
Working Conditions
The position occasionally requires stooping or bending. Occasional very light lifting, such as three or four reams of papers or books (up to 20 pounds or an equivalent weight) may be required.
Requirements
- Associate's degree in Engineering, Drafting, Designing, or a closely related field.
- Two (2) years of related experience, such as surveying, engineering, drafting, and/or designing.
Substitution: A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Drafting, Design, or a closely related field may be substituted for the education and experience requirements. Directly related professional experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Preferences
- Understanding of the City of Houston's existing wastewater utilities.
- Experience with ArcGIS Online.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- A valid Texas driver’s license and compliance with the City of Houston’s policy on driving.
- Eligible veteran applicants, provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position.
Pay
Pay Grade 13. Factors used in determining the salary offered include the candidate's qualifications as well as the pay rates of other employees in this classification.
Schedule
Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm (subject to change).
