Principal Responsibilities
- Perform complex survey duties associated with construction stakeout and boundary, topographic, and as built surveys
- Research historic maps, land records, previous surveys, and land title reports
- Complete boundary reductions and mapping/topographic field reductions in CAD/survey software
- Download, maintain, and verify accuracy of project survey data and manage survey database
- Review survey production and final products, processed data collection, and field notes for quality control
- Prepare survey computations, staking/control exhibits, and survey crew instructions for construction staking and field survey projects
- Operate and assist with operation of GPS equipment, total stations, levels, data collectors and other survey equipment
- Lead CAD Techs in preparing plans and plats describing in detail the surveys performed
- Maintain professional and productive working relationships with all clients and coworkers
- Mentor and assist in training junior staff members
- Operate a company vehicle and observe safety and security procedures
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor of Science (BS) or Associates Degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent required
- 6 years of experience minimum required in the Surveying and Construction Industry
- Land Surveyor (LS) License required
- Advanced knowledge of land surveying operations, computations, principles and practices
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering plans and construction documents
- Knowledge and ability to deal with public and governmental agencies, manage field crews, and schedule equipment and supplies
- Proficient in on-site office operation, office workflow processes and problem-solving techniques
- Advanced understanding of survey operations and identification of potential problems
- Proficient with AutoCAD C3D, survey, GPS, MS Office software
- Possess oral and written communication skills
- Ability to effectively communicate with clients, officials, contractors, coworkers and professionally represent IMEG
- Valid driver’s license with ability to be insured by IMEG carrier; must consent to a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) background check
- Proficient in Microsoft and MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to travel with occasional overnight stays
About the Role
IMEG is hiring a Project Surveyor in Rock Island, IL, to support production surveying by applying diversified knowledge of land surveying principles and practices. You’ll work under the leadership and review of a Senior Survey Coordinator or Senior Land Surveyor while exercising surveying judgment and completing project calculations and deliverables.
