Project Surveyor

Principal Responsibilities

  • Perform complex survey duties associated with construction stakeout and boundary, topographic, and as built surveys
  • Research historic maps, land records, previous surveys, and land title reports
  • Complete boundary reductions and mapping/topographic field reductions in CAD/survey software
  • Download, maintain, and verify accuracy of project survey data and manage survey database
  • Review survey production and final products, processed data collection, and field notes for quality control
  • Prepare survey computations, staking/control exhibits, and survey crew instructions for construction staking and field survey projects
  • Operate and assist with operation of GPS equipment, total stations, levels, data collectors and other survey equipment
  • Lead CAD Techs in preparing plans and plats describing in detail the surveys performed
  • Maintain professional and productive working relationships with all clients and coworkers
  • Mentor and assist in training junior staff members
  • Operate a company vehicle and observe safety and security procedures

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) or Associates Degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent required
  • 6 years of experience minimum required in the Surveying and Construction Industry
  • Land Surveyor (LS) License required
  • Advanced knowledge of land surveying operations, computations, principles and practices
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering plans and construction documents
  • Knowledge and ability to deal with public and governmental agencies, manage field crews, and schedule equipment and supplies
  • Proficient in on-site office operation, office workflow processes and problem-solving techniques
  • Advanced understanding of survey operations and identification of potential problems
  • Proficient with AutoCAD C3D, survey, GPS, MS Office software
  • Possess oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate with clients, officials, contractors, coworkers and professionally represent IMEG
  • Valid driver’s license with ability to be insured by IMEG carrier; must consent to a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) background check
  • Proficient in Microsoft and MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to travel with occasional overnight stays

About the Role

IMEG is hiring a Project Surveyor in Rock Island, IL, to support production surveying by applying diversified knowledge of land surveying principles and practices. You’ll work under the leadership and review of a Senior Survey Coordinator or Senior Land Surveyor while exercising surveying judgment and completing project calculations and deliverables.
