Project Surveyor

About the role

GPD Group is an employee-owned engineering, architecture, and planning firm with over 60 years of experience and nearly 900 professionals across 15 offices. We are expanding our professional surveying services and seeking a Project Surveyor for our Akron, OH office who embodies our entrepreneurial spirit. The role combines traditional survey methods with newer technologies such as UAS and LiDAR, and involves collaborating with technical experts across multiple market sectors including Public Works, Roadway, Traffic, and Transportation.

Qualifications

• BS in Surveying Engineering Technology
• 5+ years’ experience in the Survey industry
• Ohio Professional Surveying License preferred
• Background in working on resolution of centerlines, parcel boundaries and rights of way for design projects
• High level of proficiency in AutoCAD or other drafting software (e.g., MicroStation, InRoads, Civil 3D)
• Experience with Laser Scanning and UAS technologies a plus
• Ohio Department of Transportation Right-of-Way Reviewer Certification a plus
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: Excel, Outlook, Word, etc.
• Thrives in a collaborative project environment and enjoys all forms of communication while working with clients and team members (virtual, in-person, phone)

Responsibilities

• Strategic planning and project execution: work with the Project Manager to develop and execute strategic actions aligned with both Survey and GPD Group goals; coordinate with other professional surveyors and project teams to complete project scope and schedule on time and within GPD’s quality standards; drive growth and opportunity for the company.
• Technical project work: all aspects of surveying including input on field operations, drafting of topographic surveys and resolution of boundaries; preparing surveying documents, reviewing plats and easements, researching past survey maps and deeds.
