About the role

The Project Superintendent at Wurzel Builders, LTD. is responsible for overseeing construction activities to ensure projects are completed on schedule and to the highest quality standards. They assist the Project Manager in developing schedules, managing subcontractors, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations and building codes.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Project Manager in developing the overall schedule for each project.
  • Aid in budgeting and implementing the "WBL Buy-Out" Process.
  • Understand the scope of work for the entire project, including reviewing contract documents, subcontractor scopes, and vendor scopes of work.
  • Plan, schedule, and manage daily operations, including subcontractor work, supply deliveries, and Wurzel Builders, Ltd. (WBL) work, ensuring milestones are met.
  • Monitor job site conditions continuously to ensure they are clean and safe.
  • Monitor and ensure all work adheres to safety protocols, OSHA guidelines, and building codes.
  • Ensure all required inspections are conducted and communicate issues to the Project Manager and Owner.
  • Conduct weekly safety meetings and submit reports using the company form.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors weekly and utilize the company's Project Management Software (PMS) for daily logs and RFI management.
  • Manage and approve timesheets for self and direct reports.
  • Submit subcontractor immigration/worker verification logs.
  • Set up jobsites and jobsite trailers (if applicable).
  • Review and approve subcontractor work orders showing actual hours worked and materials provided.
  • Be present on-site during work performed by WBL vendors or subcontractors, or arrange for coverage.
  • Create and maintain a "short interval schedule" on a weekly basis and distribute it to subcontractors.
  • Meet weekly with the Project Manager and subcontractors to discuss schedule activities and resolve issues.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and Administration Supervisors to streamline systems and improve communication.
  • Conduct periodic inspections of construction and superintendent processes.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience as a superintendent on commercial construction projects.
  • 30 hours OSHA Certification.
  • CPR Certification.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and project management software.
  • Knowledge in all trades involved in construction projects.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ethical behavior and integrity.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Team-oriented.
  • Bachelor of Science in Construction or related degree, Certified Professional Constructor and/or Certified Construction Manager preferred.
