Position Overview~ The Part-Time Instructional Content Specialist plays a key role in supporting high-quality instruction across our virtual school by collaborating with teachers and the Dean of Curriculum and Instruction to design engaging, standards-aligned lesson plans and instructional materials. This position focuses on developing clear, effective teaching slides and resources that promote student understanding, consistency, and strong instructional practices in a virtual learning environment. The ideal candidate has experience in instructional coaching and a strong understanding of at least two core content areas. They are skilled in translating standards into practical classroom application, supporting teachers in planning rigorous and engaging lessons, and ensuring alignment with organizational expectations and best practices in online instruction. Essential Responsibilities~ Instructional Content Development Collaborate with Dean of Curriculum and Instruction to design and develop high-quality, standards-aligned lesson plansCreate engaging, student-friendly instructional slide decks that support clear learning objectives Ensure lesson materials include key instructional components such as warm-ups, guided practice, and checks for understandingAdapt and differentiate materials to meet diverse student needs in a virtual setting Curriculum Alignment & Consistency Ensure all instructional materials align with state standards and organizational expectationsPromote vertical and horizontal alignment across grade levels and content areasMaintain consistency in instructional routines, structure, and expectations across coursesCollaborate with leadership to refine scope and sequence documents and pacing guides Virtual Learning Best Practices Design materials that reflect best practices in virtual instruction, including student engagement and interactionIncorporate strategies that support gradual release of responsibility and active learningEnsure instructional resources are accessible, organized, and easy for teachers to implementStay current on trends and tools that enhance virtual teaching and learning Collaboration & Continuous Improvement Work closely with instructional leaders to continuously improve content and deliveryParticipate in content development sessions and feedback cyclesRevise and update materials based on teacher feedback and student performance dataSupport the overall mission of improving instructional quality and student outcomes across the virtual school Qualifications~ Required~ Valid Texas teaching certificationMinimum of 3–5 years of successful teaching experience Preferred Master’s degree in Education or related fieldPrevious experience in a virtual or online education environmentExperience with Project-Based Learning (PBL) models Skills and Abilities~ Excellent communication and organizational abilitiesAbility to analyze and act on dataHigh level of accountability and follow-throughCollaborative mindsetKnowledge of Google Suites Products Work Conditions~ This position will be a 1099 position. Steady work is not guaranteed and compensation will be by projects completed.Work is performed from a remote office environment.
