About the role
Convergint is looking for a full-time, enthusiastic, results driven and forward-thinking Project Specialist to join our amazing culture. In this role, you will install, program, test, repairs, and service a variety of systems and equipment which may include security, fire alarm & life safety with minimal guidance as needed.
Responsibilities
- Install, program, test, repairs, and service a variety of systems and equipment which may include security, fire alarm & life safety, and/or building automation with minimal guidance as needed.
- Work closely with customers and internal colleagues in providing technical installation support and training.
- May assist or train less experienced Electrical Installers.
- Refer more complex issues to more experienced colleagues.
- Interpret manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams, and repairs equipment, utilizing knowledge of electronics and using standard test instruments and hand tools.
- Provide basic installation assistance as directed by project lead.
- Act as “our customer’s best service provider” at all times thereby ensuring Convergint Technologies is the customer’s first choice for service.
- Take ownership of onsite project including safety, quality and performance.
- Observe and practice Convergint Quality Standards.
- Make suggestions for installation methods to improve profitability and quality.
- Learn and perform tasks of an Electrical Installer III in order to progress through the trade program.
- Provide feedback to the Job-Lead regarding problems and anticipate time associated with an assigned task.
- Act as primary liaison to Project Lead.
Requirements
- Experience installing and wiring access control, network cameras, door hardware, panel installation & wiring, and programming of door and camera additions.
- Comfortability performing test and inspect on fire systems.
- Solid understanding of blueprints, design drawings including wiring and labeling methods, system wiring, wiring methods, cut sheets, wiring schematics, and cable support installation (J-Hook, Raceway, Conduit, Cable Support).
- Very familiar with basic blueprints, schematics, manuals, and other specifications to determine installation procedures unassisted, may require assistance with more complex specifications.
- Strong customer focus and ability to work under pressure; ability to maintain awareness of, and seek to meet the needs and wants of the customer without being prompted.
- Solid mechanical and electrical aptitude (e.g. works with a variety of hand and power tools such as drill, screwdriver, wire stripper, hacksaw, crimper) and ability to read blueprints and drawings; solid math skills (for some positions, this may include calculating area, velocity, resistance, voltage, etc.).
- Solid verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Qualifications
High School/GED or equivalent experience. Preferred experience includes knowledge of installing cabling and basic/complex components and devices for Intercom and PA Communication systems with minimum to no supervision, system programming and/or computer knowledge to include basic networking fundamentals, and strong organization skills using various Microsoft tools.
Skills
- Knowledge of Distributive Audio systems such as 70 Volt and 25 Volt.
- Basic Electronic Circuit knowledge such as voltage, current, impedance and relay logic.
- Experience with tools of the trade such as soldering iron, voltmeter, and impedance meter.
- Experience working as a team with other technicians and having materials at job site to complete an installation project on time.
- Experience working in the field with other contractors to ensure projects are completed to Code and customer satisfaction.
- Able to read and interpret system blueprints and schematics to determine efficient installation of new or upgraded systems.
- Able to inspect, test and diagnose electrical problems on system.
