Project Site Safety Specialist-CO

6-month temporary per diem position in Windsor, CO.

About the role

As a full-time, project-dedicated Site Safety Specialist, you will drive the project’s safety culture and lead job-site safety performance improvement efforts. You will ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, including 29 CFR 1926 requirements, and act as both Competent Person and Qualified Person as defined by OSHA.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and serve as Competent Person and Qualified Person.
• Oversee all required safety orientations and onboarding; review job briefs and provide feedback to crew leaders.
• Immediately report all incidents to the client project team; lead or support incident investigations and root cause analysis.
• Conduct regular safety audits and participate in client safety assessments.
• Implement and audit inspections and testing programs.
• Provide summaries for incidents, corrective actions, safety meetings, and training conducted.
• Support client-specific contractor safety programs and meet or exceed applicable client requirements.
• Prepare professional written reports and conduct field inspections.

Requirements

• One of the following education and experience combinations:
  • Bachelor’s degree with 3 to 5 years of relevant safety experience in gas utility or heavy construction; or
  • CUSP certification with 5 to 7 years of documented gas utility experience; or
  • 20+ years of gas utility experience while actively pursuing CUSP certification.
• Natural gas pipeline field safety experience.
• OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification; current CPR, First Aid, and AED certification; Confined Space training; Work Area Protection training; HAZWOPER 40-Hour certification; and Process Hazard Analysis or Process Safety training.
• Tap Root training or ability to obtain, along with working knowledge of gas utility work methods.
• Strong understanding of gas transmission, distribution, or related infrastructure work, including working knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1926 standards.
• Ability to be physically present on site throughout active project operations and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to interact effectively with crews, supervision, and client representatives.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications

• CSP, ASP, CHST, or OHST certification.
• CUSP Green or Blue certification.

Pay

Pay range: $42.00–$52.00 per hour. This range represents the expected hourly pay rate at the time of posting. Actual pay will be determined based on factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, qualifications, internal equity, and business needs.

Per diem: $125/day, 7 days a week.
