About the role

The Department of Chemistry at the University of California, Irvine anticipates openings for all levels of the Project Scientists series throughout the 2026-27 Academic Year. Applications are being sought from candidates with Ph.D. degrees in various areas of Chemistry or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to research projects aligned with the interests of Principal Investigators.
  • Develop and execute research plans based on background in Inorganic or Organometallic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physical, Atmospheric, or Analytical Chemistry, Polymer, Materials, or Nanoscience Chemistry, or Theoretical Chemistry.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to advance scientific knowledge and contribute to the academic community.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. degree with a background in Chemistry or a related field.
  • Experience in relevant areas such as Inorganic or Organometallic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physical, Atmospheric, or Analytical Chemistry, Polymer, Materials, or Nanoscience Chemistry, or Theoretical Chemistry.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $79,400-$209,000. The posted UC salary scales determine the minimum pay based on rank and step at appointment.

Schedule

Initial appointments are for one year and renewal is dependent on availability of support. Positions are contingent upon extramural funding and research contracts of individual Principal Investigators.
